radio alhara.jpg

Radio Alhara formed to bring together creative communities of the Middle East and North Africa during the Covid-19 lockdown. By playing some of the forgotten retro funk and disco tapes emerging from the underground Arab world, some of the stations DJ’s aim to resurface some their culture’s hidden musical gems. The station has evolved into a wider cultural space, giving an amplified voice to locals, while connecting who are isolated to the wider world. Something interesting that was mentioned how how for some locals living in the West Bank in particular, living in lockdown is something many are actually used to due to uncertainty from Israeli military.
