Lisbon's Afro-Rave scene

It’s only right that my first post is about Lisbon. Enchufada and Principe were really my gateway into the global bass scene. I've been in reading some old amazing articles on Lisbon's rave scene that emerged from it's creative African communities. Myself being also a product of Portugal colonial history, I feel that I have some sort of cultural connection with what is going on their creative scenes. These old articles had come onto my radar since I've been focusing my energy on releasing music that fuses the London rave and grime sounds, along with my own Goan/Indian/Portuguese/East-African roots.

It's interesting to polarities with Lisbon's Batida/Kuduro, and London's Grime. DJ Marfox is like their Wiley, DJ Nervuso is like their Geeneus. It's articles like this that have made me realise the importance of music journalism. For an outsider, journalists are a gateway to spreading the good music. This might sound obvious but maybe it's been difficult for me to understand this all this time, having lived in London all my life.
